Ageing causes the skin of the face especially around the jaw line to sag. This is because the skin loses its elasticity and also the supporting muscle layer underneath also becomes stretched This gives rise to jowls, deepening of the lines around the mouth (nasolabial folds) and development of skin folds in the neck.

A face lift operation is deigned to address these changes. The incision is placed in an area that is minimally visible. The principle of the surgery is to elevate the deep muscular layer (SMAS) and to redrape the skin on top after trimming the excess skin. The effect of this is a more refreshed and youthful appearance.
