Arm and thigh lift

Summary
  • General Anaesthetic (2-3 hours)
  • Hospital stay: 1 night
  • Home with bandage / elastic support
  • Time off work: 2 weeks
  • Return to full activities: 4-6 weeks

Excess skin in the upper arm and the thigh is often present after weight loss. It can also be present, especially in the upper arm as a result of aging and loss of skin elasticity. This does not usually respond to exercise and can be a source of significant embarrassment.

This excess skin can be removed surgically. The operation is performed under general anaesthetic through a longitudinal incision. The scar is hidden in the arm and the thigh on the inside so that shorts and sleeveless tops can be worn.
